How much is smoking really costing you? With prices averaging around $13.50 a packet, a heavy smoker can see almost $5,000 going up in smoke every year.

What do you think about increasing the price of cigarettes? If cigarettes went up to almost $20 a packet would that make you stop smoking or stop you from starting in the first place?

Check out what other young people have said or even better click here to tell us what you think!

"I think it would be great if cigarettes went up by that much, it's a terrible habit and would definitely prevent people from smoking" - Kamil M -

"I would never smoke in the first place. It is just a poor excuse for somebody's problems, just like drugs. but yeah, the more the packets would cost, DEFINITELY the more I wouldn't look at it" - Rama P -

"I would never smoke. It is a total waste of time and money. Not to mention it rots your teeth and harms your body and people around you" - Bill U -

"Smoking is something I'd never do. I hope they go up to a really high price so that I don't have to hold my breath when I see smokers" - Laura H -
